Jikoni is the Swahili word for kitchen.The inspiration for my company name came naturally since I spend most of my time cooking in the kitchen.I tended to cater for private parties and functions but in November 2010, an opportunity to expand came when I was approched to cater for Women In Film International Commities event "Out Of Africa: A Night Of Kenyan Film and Culture" held at the Universal Studios on March 5th, 2011.This was once in a lifetime opportunity to bring Kenyan food into Hollywood. People enjoyed the food and they had a great experience of trying something different and at the same time learn alot about the Kenyan Culture! I am based in Los Angeles, California.
